We know that they are all around us… We know that we should be using them… Most of us have sat in a room and had a few of the “major ones” explained to us in painstaking detail…But have you ever taken a step back and looked at the concepts behind Design Patterns as a whole?Instead of rushing through in-depth technical explanations of specific Design patterns, this talk will focus on the big-picture concepts behind Design Patterns. We will discuss what they are, why we should care about them, and how to decide when to use which ones.

Chris Russell has been a professional software engineer since 2005 and a hobbyist for many years before that. During that time, he has held roles ranging from “bug-squasher” to architect. His professional focus has been on PHP with a healthy dose of Javascript but has also been known to dabble in Java from time to time in his spare time.Chris has been involved in the South Florida PHP user-group since 2013. Being A strong proponent for “learning through the perspectives of others”, he credits the user group with many of his recent coding revelations.
