A conversation with Valencia Gunder, Co-Director of The Smile Trust
As the holidays approach, most of us will get together with our loved ones to spend time with one another, share meals, and celebrate the start of a new year. What about those who don’t have families to be with, a home to go back to, or the resources to afford a meal? Especially during these difficult times of COVID-19 pandemic, it is important that those who need it the most have access to their basic needs and feel welcomed in their communities.
Join us for our November installment of Pioneers @MDC for a conversation with Valencia Gunder, Co-Director of The Smile Trust; a non-profit organization that fights homelessness and tackles food insecurity in Florida and beyond. The Smile Trust strives to revive, reinvigorate, and heal every individual they service while doing so with a Smile!
Since February 2014, The Smile Trust formerly known as (Make the Homeless Smile) has served over 100,000 meals between Miami, FL and Atlanta, GA. They have provided disaster relief in Flint, MI after the Water Crisis, across the state of Florida, and internationally by spearheading disaster relief efforts during the aftermath of Hurricane Dorian in The Bahamas.
