Measuring the Health of Your Startup

June 19, 2019 @ 8:30 am - 10:30 am EDT

The data your startup is collecting can be used to measure the health of the business, show progress over time, and detect areas for improvement. But which data? Where do you get it? How do you turn it from raw information into a coherent story? And what specific metrics should startup founders be most concerned with? To answer those questions, TheVentureCity will provide an overview of startup metrics with actionable recommendations for how to apply them to your company.

Key Takeaways:

– Why raw event logs are valuable and where to find them

– How to interpret growth accounting, retention, and engagement metrics

– An introduction to TheVentureCity’s free Data Pipeline Toolkit for any startup

About the instructor:

David Smith is TheVentureCity’s resident Growth Data Scientist. In addition to performing due diligence on potential investments, an important part of his role is to help accelerator companies make data-driven decisions. David’s background combines data science experience at Teva Pharmaceuticals with a prior career in IT consulting, software product management, and entrepreneurship. He has an MBA from Wharton and a BS in engineering from Rice, and organizes the Miami Data Science Meetup.
