Speaker Information:
Mr. Basit has over eleven years of experience in intellectual property matters, including both governmental and private practice experience.  For five years, Mr. Basit worked as a patent examiner at the United States Patent & Trademark Office and was involved in the examination of electronic commerce, financial technologies (Fintech), and software-based technologies.   Mr. Basit has six years of experience in private legal practice and has worked on technologies including wireless communications, computer networking systems, virtual reality (VR), cloud computing systems, Fintech, and multimedia systems.
Mr. Basit is a registered patent attorney and is only an active member of the D.C. and New York bars.  The Law Firm of A.Q. Basit is located in Washington, D.C. Mr. Basit received his JD from the University of New Hampshire School of Law, a BS in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin, Madison, and a MS in Electrical Engineering from George Mason University.
Mr. Kretschmann  is a German patent attorney and works at the Munich office of Boehmert and Boehmert.  Mr. Kretschmann focuses on the development and management of patent portfolios in the areas of physics, optics, electrical engineering, IT, and software. Mr. Kretschmann also has expertise in patent litigation matters. Mr. Kretschmann r conducts patent infringement and nullity proceedings before the German courts, and coordinates cross-border infringement cases. In addition, he provides counsel on technology transfer, licensing agreements, and employee invention law.
Following his training in industrial property law, Mr. Kretschmann was admitted as German patent attorney in 2010. He has been an admitted representative before the European Patent Office and before the EU Intellectual Property Office since 2011.
